Is a twenty-year-old built-in still worth repairing this close to the ocean?
Usually, yes. Nothing exotic stops them. A fan motor behind the evaporator, a heater in the defrost circuit, a temperature sensor, a gasket gone hard, the module driving the ice maker: that is the honest list, and no item on it justifies buying an appliance. A built-in is joinery as much as machinery, too, so replacing one means finding something that suits an opening and takes a panel front both made for the unit standing in there now. The one local caveat is corrosion. A fin pack that has gone soft after years of salt air is a condenser rather than a cleaning, and you will be told that plainly instead of being charged for the same visit twice.
What parts do you fit, and is the work covered afterward?
OEM-grade parts, and the repair carries a warranty on both parts and labor. Cheaper pattern components circulate for this equipment and we leave them where they are. A non-original fan motor or sensor generally runs for a while and then turns up on the same fault list a season later, and paying twice for one repair is nobody's saving. Proximity to the water sharpens that rather than softening it, because the hardware holding a fan or a connector together is doing its work in salt air, and the original specification exists because somebody worked out what that takes.
